Conditions I love to treat...
Here's what I see a lot of day in and day out at my clinic:
Chronic pain from degenerative joint disease, inflammatory conditions, recurrent injuries or past injuries that just won't heal
Often after trying many other routes, a comprehensive Naturopathic approach (which may include regenerative injection therapies) is what can finally help heal an area of chronic degeneration and pain for many of my patients so that they can get back to your life without pain stopping them
Some conditions and diagnoses that patients seek help with (or seek an evaluation to determine) include: osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, recurrent sprains, muscle spasms, sports injuries, motor vehicle injuries (soon after or years after the accident), and hypermobility conditions (including assessment and treatment for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome).
Among the many specialized treatment options I offer patients, I have significant experience using trigger point injections and regenerative injection therapies. I am also actively developing my Facial Counterstrain skills, to provide even more in-office therapeutic treatments for my patients in chronic pain.
Chronic pain from hypermobility, connective tissue laxity, autonomic dysfunction and mast cell activation
I work with patients and help try to figure out the cause of their pain. Both my patients and I want to uncover the reasons for their pain - that's how we can maximize the positive impact on their pain, function, and quality of life.
I do a lot of workup and evaluation for my patients. This can include lab evaluation, imaging orders, and clinical investigation. For patients for whom it is relevant, I provide assessment and diagnostic evaluation for Hypermobility Spectrum Disorders, including hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. I also frequently discuss evaluation and treatment for commonly associated conditions, such as Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, and Small Fiber Neuropathy, among other concerns.
Hormone imbalances
Premenstrual and other menstrual cycle concerns including severe cramps, PMS, heavy cycles, irregular periods,
Peri-menopause and and post-menopause related symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, fatigue, insomnia, anxiety, joint pain, and mood irregularities.
Testosterone deficiency or dysfunction, which can be seen as fatigue, muscle weakness, lack of endurance, apathy, lack of motivation, and loss of libido or other sexual function difficulty.
I want to figure how what is going on. This commonly includes lab investigation and treatment options which are individualized. I offer hormone replacement therapy (standard and bioidentical, including hormone pellets) as well as non-hormone therapeutics.
Energy & Sleep
Can't fall asleep, can't stay asleep, wake up feeling exhausted or fatigue throughout the day (no, an energy crash at 3 p.m. and nightly insomnia isn't ideal for you and your quality of life).
Metabolism & Blood Sugar
Diabetes, pre-diabetes, Metabolic Syndrome and/or insulin resistance. I use dietary interventions, herbal and other supplemental options as well as medication management. I work with each patient to figure out what the right treatment plan is for them.
I follow the Health at Every Size principles (you can read more about my principles here), which means that each and every one of my patients is inherently valued, and their worth is not determined by, nor changed by their body size. It is not my place nor ever my goal to tell patients to be a different body size. I do not believe that body size in and of itself has any bearing on our health, and I strive to evaluate and care for each of my patients with equal passion and commitment.
I don't ever say, "well there's nothing more I can do for you, you just need to lose weight." I don't say that because it's lazy, extremely biased, and damaging. There are always actionable treatment recommendations I can make, that can help improve someone's health and quality of life.
That being said, if weight loss is a major concern for a patient of mine, I strive to understand how it is impacting their quality of life, as well as offer investigation and therapeutics that will care for their physical as well as mental well-being (which are my professional goals, not the pounds and "goal weight" someone may have for themself).
Thyroid
Hypothyroid, near-hypothyroid or symptoms of hypothyroidism but "your labs are normal" (often called sub-lab or sub-clinical hypothyroidism).
... and let me be the first to say, I can't and don't do everything.

... and let me be the first to say, I can't and don't do everything.
Here's a short list of what I cannot do for patients:
- Management of chronic prescription pain management (ex. opioids)
- Management of controlled mental health medications (ex. stimulants, benzodiazepines)
- I'm not a primary care physician (as defined by your insurance company, which I agree with since I do not have many things in place that they require such as a 24-hour nurse line). I don't do annual exams (ex. gyn exams).
... don't see your concern listed here?
It's difficult to summarize every condition I help patients with. If you have questions and concerns that you feel we should discuss prior to your new patient visit (very common for those considering regenerative injection therapies), I offer 15 minute discovery calls.
Let's chat about what you are looking for and see if we're a good fit. |
