Dr. Angela Cortal
serving those most passionate about understanding their health
~ in Portland & Salem, Oregon ~
who I am
I'm a Naturopathic Physician and a native Oregonian (I grew up in Portland, but Salem is my current home).
I love Naturopathic medicine and regenerative injection therapies.
I'm in love with what I do.
It is so gratifying to help my patients, whether its reversing chronic pain, demystifying hormone chaos or untangling all the other health conditions I help with on a daily basis.
in a nutshell
I'm a doctor who is passionate about understanding pain and other tricky complex or degenerative conditions. I love using regenerative injection therapies to support the healing and regrowth of areas of pain or injury (muscles, tendons, joints and cartilage are common sites) where past injury, weakness, and chronic inflammation have set in.
With each and every patient, I listen fully and provide support and encouragement along the way because I believe that together we can produce long-lasting change and a better quality of life.
By receiving customized and attentive care, my patients are able to make informed decisions about their health and reap the benefits. I recognize the unique value and abilities of all my patients and believe that we all deserve the chance to attain the best possible quality of life and maximal life span.

more about me
I love my job. I enjoy what I do because I help others in real, profound ways each and every day.
In addition to my clinical work seeing patients, I also travel the world teaching professional and public audiences as well as instruct other physicians in best practices using injection therapies such as trigger point injections and prolotherapy. See this page for more details.
I balance work-life with play-life by enjoying time with friends and family, getting outdoors, wrangling our two wild and crazy rescue dogs, making sure I get my body moving to help it feel its best, and generally trying to lead a good life full of good company, good food and good coffee.
my background
I graduated with a doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine and have been in private practice since 2012. I practice in Portland and Salem, Oregon at Reconstructed Wellness Integrative Medicine (and am available via telehealth for any patient in Oregon).
In addition to my private practice, I am an invited speaker for organizations training healthcare professionals in the fields of natural medicine, osteopathic medicine, and regenerative medicine.
I have participated as faculty for numerous injection training courses taught in the US, Canada, and Mexico. I enojy training healthcare professionals to be top-notch comprehensive providers of regenerative injection therapies for chronic pain conditions.
I am the best-selling author of Younger Joints Today and I'm on the board of Santiam Community Health, a 501(c)(3) non-profit which seeks to help those with medical and financial barriers to accessing traditional healthcare services.
My initial training included learning numerous styles of injection therapies, such as prolotherapy and platelet-rich plasma injections. I received my training from Naturopathic Doctors, Osteopathic Doctors and Medical Doctors from a diverse number of organizations and teaching environments throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico.
I am a member of the American Osteopathic Association of Prolotherapy Regenerative Medicine, and regularly speak at their annual conferences on such topics as using functional medicine to optimize patient response to regenerative injection therapies.
I enjoy teaching, writing and speaking to public and professional audiences on regenerative injection therapies and hormonal dysfunction. I am also actively involved in professional development of my field through the Oregon Association of Naturopathic Physicians (currently on their board of directors).
I'm a proud member of the following professional organizations:
